I have found
my experience as a counselor to be a truly rewarding field of opportunity.
My greatest desire is to see my clients come into their emotional
healing. Each client is unique with their problems unique to them;
therefore, I continue to utilize methods to help each specific need,
customizing their counseling to their need. I have been told one
of my greatest gifts is the art of listening. My ability to see
circumstances from different perspectives coupled with an ability
of problem solving, allows me to help others objectively. I find
counseling a joy and an extremely rewarding experience.
Education
Amberton University, Garland, Texas, Masters of Arts in Counseling,
August, 2004.
University of North Texas, Denton, Texas, Bachelor of Arts in Economics,
May, 1977.
Experience
I completed both my practicum work and internship through the psychiatrist
office of Dr. Arnold Mech, Plano, Texas. Also had the opportunity
to further my experience with children's counseling through play
therapy at Journeys Christian Counseling Center, Richardson, Texas.
The experience I gained working as an intern at Journeys with children
was very insightful. The experience I also gained by providing spiritual
counseling and psychotherapy through my church, River of Glory,
Plano, Texas, has only broadened my counseling perspective. Currently,
I am a Partner with Journeys Christian Counseling Center and counsel
many clients with diversified needs.
Some of my various
fields of focus include drug abuse and use, eating disorders, adolescent
issues, marriage and family issues, self-esteem issues, depression,
suicidal ideation, anxiety/panic attacks, social phobias, anger
issues, OCD behavior, and emotional abuse. I also conduct play therapy
with children up to the age of 12. I work with adults, adolescents,
marriage and family, and children. I incorporate traditional psychotherapy
in an eclectic framework that is best suited for my client. I also
counsel through Biblical perspective and spiritual framework upon
the request of the client.
